Site Visit
The local organizing committee (LOC) of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 conducted the first site visit with the World Athletics in mid-November.
At a meeting preceding the visit, the LOC presented the vision and organisational structure for the WCH Tokyo 25, and shared the status of progress made so far.
“Our journey started in Oregon with a successful bid, and the flag was handed over from Budapest to Tokyo. Together with the World Athletics, I am confident that we can deliver an exciting Championships in one of the most exciting cities in the world.” said Mitsugi OGATA, President of the LOC.
The World Athletics delegates visited the Japan National Stadium, which will serve as the main arena for the event, as well as Tokyo Gymnasium and other venues to see the facilities required for event operations and their room layouts, along with the flow lines for athletes and spectators.
In addition, the delegation toured the proposed marathon and race walk courses, hotels, and other sites, and discussed with the LOC a variety of matters related to the timetable and competition.
“We are now entirely focused on the next milestone in the history of World Athletics, which is Tokyo 25.” said Marton GYULAI, Director of Competition and Events at World Athletics.
The WCH Tokyo 25 will be held from 13-21 September 2025.
